Music Documentary or Feature
The Noise Pop Film Festival began in 2000 to expand the week-long Noise Pop Music Festival which began in 1993 in San Francisco.

We are seeking feature-length documentaries or features that have music or musicians as the subject matter. Championing independent culture, past Noise Pop screenings include a secret sneak preview of "The Fearless Freaks" Flaming Lips documentary, "X: The Unheard Music," "Directions: Death Cab for Cutie," "The extraordinary Ordinary life of Jose Gonzalez," "This is Noise Pop," "Look at What the Light did now" Feist documentary, "Taken By Storm," and "Neon Bible" with a live original score by Oranger - Theremin and all.
Use of Music in Film
The Noise Pop Festival is a champion of independent culture, music and film. Films entering under the category "Use of Music in Film" must explore the connection to music, either in its subject matter, the talent behind or in front of the camera, or an exceptionally prominent soundtrack.

We will watch any kind of film or video narrative feature, documentary, short, animation, experimental or music video, that explores a connection to music, either in its subject matter, the talent behind or in front of the camera, or with an exceptionally prominent soundtrack.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

The Noise Pop Film Festival began in 2000 to expand the week-long Noise Pop Music Festival which began in 1993 in San Francisco.

The Noise Pop Festival is San Francisco’s favorite indie music, arts and film festival. Now in its 24th year, Noise Pop has brought early exposure to many emerging artists in the Bay Area and beyond, many of whom have gone on to widespread acclaim. Some notable acts who have played Noise Pop include the White Stripes, Modest Mouse, The Flaming Lips, Death Cab for Cutie, The Shins, Bright Eyes, Best Coast, Jeff Tweedy, The Dodos, Girls and Antony and The Johnsons. The festival has also featured musical legends such as Yoko Ono and The Plastic Ono Band, Bob Mould, Yo La Tengo, X, Frank Black (of the Pixies), Sleater-Kinney and Television. In addition, the festival boasts a film series that explores the intersection of music and art; Pop-n-Shop, a local designer fair; NPHQ; Art Gallery Shows; Happy Hours and much more.

GENERAL RULES

We will watch any kind of film or video narrative feature, documentary, short, animation, experimental, music video, but it must explore the connection to music, either in its subject matter, the talent behind or in front of the camera, or an exceptionally prominent soundtrack.

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE

1. Please fill out application and all required fields, along with your contact information, press kits, stills and any fun stuff you want to include.

2. Contact information: Include your name, address, phone, cell phone, fax number and email address. Also include the title of your film/video, its country of origin, year of production, screening format and running time.

3. All applicants will be notified of the Festival's decision by January 29, 2017.

4. All submitted materials become property of Noise Pop and cannot be returned unless you provide a pre-paid return envelope. No refunds. By submitting this material you acknowledge Noise Pop's right to copy any submitted material for Noise Pop's non-commercial use only.
