CINE Golden Eagle Awards for Professional Media
Most major national media awards honor a predetermined shortlist created by the awards committee, then voted on by their memberships, organization or union members.

The CINE Golden Eagle Award is different — every entry has an equal opportunity to reach the final jury. Our initial review teams evaluate each entry through an openly published set of evaluation criteria — and all entrants may request their evaluations when the process is complete.

Top projects are sent to a jury of notable filmmakers, producers and former CINE winners. They select up to five finalists and a CINE Golden Eagle Award winner.

We’ve analyzed the media landscape to create a category system that is flexible, streamlined and inclusive. All professional media is grouped by genre — narrative, non-fiction, variety/talk, children’s, and advertising/institutional use — regardless of distribution platform. Whether the production was distributed online, VOD, on TV/cable or in a theater, it has a place.

Visit www.cine.org/professional for complete information.
CINE Golden Eagle Awards for Independent & Emerging Media
We’ve built our legacy on discovering independent and emerging talent, and now we’re partnering with film festivals to help us honor the best.

Every entry has an equal opportunity to reach the final jury. Our initial review teams evaluate each entry through an openly published set of evaluation criteria — and all entrants may access their comments when the process is complete.

CINE Golden Eagle Awards for Student & Youth Media
We’ve built our legacy on discovering emerging talent, and we want to champion the next generation of great filmmakers.

Filmmakers in undergraduate or graduate programs are eligible to submit in our Student categories, while filmmakers aged 12-18 may submit in the Youth categories.

MISSION & OBJECTIVE

CINE honors and champions the creators of exceptional media content.

CINE builds and supports a community of professional, emerging and student film, television and digital content creators through the CINE Golden Eagle Awards, the CINE Connects alumni network, the Marvin Hamlisch Film Scoring Contest, and related skill-building programming.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

Since 1957, CINE has honored hundreds of film, television and marketing projects with the prestigious Golden Eagle award. For some, the Golden Eagle kickstarted new careers; for others, the honor solidified reputations as industry powerhouses. Notable CINE alumni include Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, John Lasseter, Ken Burns, Barbara Kopple and dozens of others. Winning a Golden Eagle is remembered fondly by our honorees and is often cited in interviews and memoirs.

Stepping back to reimagine our mission in the ever-changing media industry, CINE has committed to a new vision: honoring excellence in mediamaking through a new set of criteria focused on storytelling, originality, and meeting the needs of the intended audience.

The needs of each media maker are different, so we've split the CINE Golden Eagle Awards into three rounds:

CINE Golden Eagle Awards for Professional Media
CINE Golden Eagle Awards for Independent & Emerging Media
CINE Golden Eagle Awards for Student & Youth Media
