The Seventh Annual Atlanta Shortsfest is held July 15 - 16, 2016 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Atlanta Shortsfest showcases a diverse mix of short films by ultra-talented filmmakers from across the globe. Our team searches the entire globe for the best shorts to present at the festival, and we include both new and experienced filmmakers in our programming.

Traditionally, short films often do not garner the attention they deserve on the festival circuit. Atlanta Shortsfest was established to spotlight and promote excellent short films, and provide an important platform to share and discuss your work with appreciative audiences and fellow filmmakers.

The Atlanta Shortsfest showcases a variety of short films with a running time under 45 minutes. Judges program comedy, animation, documentary, experimental, horror & sci-fi, personal, erotic, fantasy, drama, thrillers, action & adventure, cult and just about any other genre you can imagine.

Our 2016 Call for Entries is officially OPEN! Enter your short today and be a part of this incredible celebration of independent film.

We accept submissions via Withoutabox's Secure Online Screeners, or another online source.
We have judges in all parts of the world, and each member of our selection committee can easily view your film, and make a decision more rapidly. Plus, you'll save on shipping cost, and cut down on packaging waste.

Although we prefer online screeners, if you prefer to send a hard copy, please let us know first by emailing:
We will confirm by email when received.

Due to the large number of entries received submission materials and videos will not be returned.

Programming decisions are made by the festival directors and our selection committee. If accepted, we will notify filmmakers by email. After acceptance, the exhibition format will need to be in our office two weeks prior to festival. Be sure to indicate aspect ratio of your film/video as well as any other special screening or presentation information we might need to know. We do not pay rental fees for submitted work that is programmed.

Although the art of filmmaking is not competitive, the Atlanta Shortsfest does give awards. The festival jury will present awards to short films selected as best in various categories, including Best Director, Drama, Comedy, Documentary, Horror & Sci-Fi, Experimental, Animation, "Best of Fest" and many more.

Atlanta Shortsfest is hereby granted the right to utilize an excerpt from any film submitted and accepted for exhibition at the Festival for promotional purposes.
