Narrative films with a running time of 40+ minutes.
Narrative Short
Narrative shorts with a running time of 10 minutes or less.
Documentary Feature
Documentary films with a running time of 40+ minutes.
Documentary Short
Documentary films with a running time of 30 minutes or less.
Experimental/ Avant Garde
Non-narrative experimental pieces with a running time of 100 minutes or less.
LGBTQ Films
LGBTQ short films with a running time of 15 minutes or less.
Music Videos
Music videos with a running time of 6 minutes or less.
Student Films
Directed and produced by a student in school.
Animation
Animated shorts with a running time of 10 minutes or less.
Web and TV Series
Episodic content created for broadcast television and/or streaming, including pilots.

MISSION & OBJECTIVE

CHICANO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL is one of the longest running film festival in Los Angeles. For over 20 years, CHIFF has celebrated and advanced the understanding of Chicano history, culture, and expression through the art of film.

CHIFF is committed to making a difference. By providing mentorship and educational opportunities, we inspire and empower future filmmakers. The heart of CHIFF is to build a connection with the television, film, and digital media industries to create opportunities for future generations of filmmakers and storytellers.

GENERAL RULES

Welcome to Chicano International Film Festival!

This year's theme is "VIVA LA MUJER"

CHICANA: connected to your roots (Mexican, Caribbean, Latin American)


REQUIREMENTS:

1. All submissions must encompass the theme in the story submitted.
2. There MUST be a Chicana/o filmmaker in one (or more) of the following positions:
- WRITER
- DIRECTOR
- PRODUCER
- LEAD

Submissions must fit the above criteria for consideration.


TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Films must have been completed after January 2017.

More than one entry may be submitted. Each entry must be accompanied by an official entry form and entry fee.

CHIFF reserves the right to disqualify any film not submitted through these guidelines without refund of any application fees.

Films not in English must be subtitled in English unless dialogue is minimal and not necessary for the comprehension of the Film.

Entry fees are non-refundable.

All film entries selected for the festival grant CHIFF the rights to use footage, stills and/or titles and information from the film for promotional purposes.

All films submitted must be free from any legal disputes and the filmmaker must have cleared all rights for music and exhibition.

CHIFF reserves the right to change any information contained in this document (including Festival dates, venues, events, awards and eligibility requirements) without further notice.

All filmmakers will be notified of their status by August 18, 2018 via email.

Due to the number of submissions, CHIFF cannot provide feedback on any entries.
