MISSION & OBJECTIVE
Northside Festival's mission is to give young filmmakers a platform to showcase their work to new audiences.
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
For the past six years, Northside Film has discovered and amplified some of the most distinctive voices in the world of independent film.
Together with our favorite Williamsburg venues—Nitehawk, UnionDocs, Videology and the Wythe Hotel— Northside celebrates young filmmakers by bringing their work to New York City’s voracious film audiences.
Past entrants have had their films seen by jurors like Rosie Perez, Parker Posey, Matthew Grady (Factory 25), Joana Vicente (IFP), Kentucker Audley (NoBudge), Alex Karpovsky (GIRLS), Rajendra Roy (MoMA, Department of Film), Patricia Kaufman (Executive Director of the New York State Governor’s Office for Motion Picture and Television Development), Todd P. (DIY Music Curator), Ted Hope (Producer), Ramin Bahrani (Director), Scott Macaulay (Editor, Filmmaker Magazine), Terence Nance (Director) and more!
Northside Film’s program includes the following categories: Features (fiction and documentary), Shorts (fiction, documentary, experimental), Music Videos, and Episodic (webseries, pilots). Northside Film competition winners receive $5,000 value in cash and prizes as well as special screening event hosted by Northside.
