    MISSION & OBJECTIVE:

The Global Peace Film Festival is premised on a broad definition of peace based on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr’s statement: “Peace is not only the absence of conflict, but also the presence of justice.” The festival uses film to draw together people from all walks of life to be inspired by compelling storytelling and for them then to engage actively within their own lives and communities to make the world a better place than they found it. Action, engagement and participation are our bywords; and we seek films that make us laugh, think, cry, sit taller in our seats and ask what can I do? We are seeking films that either have companion impact and outreach campaigns or ones for which GPFF can build resources and activities from our community partners locally and from around the world. We do not view the festival as a passive exhibition event, but a commitment to building relationships and resources aimed at increasing the presence of justice all year round.

    CATEGORIES:

    • Strong Woman Protagonist-Female Director
    • Strong Woman Protagonist-Male Director

    MISSION & OBJECTIVE:

The Bluestocking Film Series presents high-quality, provocative short fiction films featuring strong female protagonists. We're very proud to bring this innovative screening series to the beautiful, culturally vibrant, film-loving city of Portland, Maine.

Our mission is to encourage and promote production by filmmakers of narratives that reflect the diverse experiences of women and the complexity of women's lives and relationships with each other. Therefore, preference will be given to films that feature strong, complex female protagonists in leading roles.

Our main criteria - and what makes the Bluestocking Film Series unique - is that all submissions must first "pass" The Bechdel Test to be considered.

Therefore, ALL films in ANY category must have at least 2 named female characters who talk to each other (for more than a few seconds) about something other than a man (or men or boys). To find out more about the test, please Google it.

Because the Bechdel Test is intended to apply to narrative films, we invite submissions of fiction films ONLY.

IMPORTANT: ALL submissions must pass the ‘Bechdel Test for Women in Movies’ which is as follows:

-Are there 2 or more women in it who have names?
-Do they talk to each other?
-Do they talk to each other about something other than men (boys)?

We do this to enrich the life of the community, filmmakers and of course individuals who pursue careers in front of and behind the camera. By working directly with filmmakers independent of budget, origin, style or genre we celebrate the art of film and filmmakers in addition to:
-Setting high standards for quality film education and exhibition, placing artistic and cultural merit above commercial appeal.
-Working collaboratively with filmmakers and producers to increase access to quality film arts, presentations, programs, and projects.
-Enjoy the art of Action on Film in all of its glory from the delicate movement of the wings of a butterfly to a blazing shoot out on the streets of an inner city.
-The festival takes place in Theaters and in other professional settings such as the beautiful Pasadena Playhouse, there is nothing wrong with festivals that showcase films in other types of venues but we believe that we must give our filmmakers and writers the best venues to showcase their work as possible.
    - Over the years people have come to understand that Action On Film does not just mean action films it means the action the filmmaker takes to bring his or her dream to the screen and the reaction of the audiences to that work.
-Oh yeah, we love filmmakers and writers too

The Action On Film International Film Festival has been honored with being named to many Top Festival Lists both Domestic and Internatioinal. Perhaps it is the free video interviews, or Black Tie Dinner and Award Shows or just the great way filmmakers and writers are treated. Whatever the reason, the AOF Team is proud to be acknowledged by MovieMaker Magazine and for being placed in such high regard as some of the world's other top film festivals.

    MISSION & OBJECTIVE:

Promoting British & International Horror Films!

The British Horror Film Festival is one of the most important and influential horror film festivals in the UK and has a rapidly growing international reputation.

Our goal is to regularly grow the number of screens that the festival is screened on, simultaneously around the UK. We have been growing these screens since 2011 when we screened the festival on 2 screens, Bournemouth and London's Leicester Square.

This gives your movie a chance to be seen by a wider audience and have a one day theatrical release in the UK, as well as a prestigious Leicester Square premiere/debut.

We also have the 'Horror Awards'. These beautiful Crystal Awards are presented at the end of the festival at an awards ceremony.
Previous winners of these prestigious awards have gone on to secure distribution deals in the UK and abroad. The 2013 awards were sponsored by Haunted: After Dark.

Each film screened is nominated in at least one awards category and often many others.

We are committed to increasing the profile of independent horror films and film-makers. A number of reviewers are present at all our screenings, to ensure you get plenty of global publicity, both on-line and in print for your film.

Prepare to scream ... about films!
