  • Mykonos BiennaleNext Deadline: 05/21/2015

    CATEGORIES:

    • Video Graffiti
    • Dramatic Nights

    MISSION & OBJECTIVE:

The Mykonos Biennale is an intellectual event which brings together the work of artists from all over the world to create something new, to break the borders of art, using the telluric energy and hermetic beauty of this cosmopolitan island.

The international multicultural events will interact with the local memories, traditions and historical spaces creating a unique experimental event.

The art exhibitions, the installations, and performances of the artists, the musicians and dance group will spread through out the monasteries, the museums, the old houses, the ancient island of Delos, the windmills and other monumental buildings, like a treasure map of the old island. The heart of the Mykonos Biennale is the video film festival which in 2015 is divided into two categories:

Video Graffiti - Throughout the old town of Mykonos, famous for its white building and thus often called the bride of the Aegean, art videos will be projected on the walls of houses and gardens transforming this town that never sleeps into a living theatre of video graffiti.

Dramatic Nights - A selection narrative short films, documentary and art videos will be screened in the open air theatre of the island and at the important Gryparion center.

Submissions, given the creators permission, will be shown on our website.

Antidote is the theme of Mykonos Biennale 2015.

Everyday like a poison, world news infects humanity, plunging the human conscience into a deep hibernation of frantic inactivity, in an attempt to find some serenity to endure in until the end.
However they say that if a tarantula bites you the only way to escape death is to dance day and night, jumping from the pain and staying awake, because if you let go and fall asleep you are lost. Such a crazy celebration of consciousness is the Mykonos Biennale as its theme for 2015 is the Antidote.
What is the antidote? Is it love? Is it power? Or is it sorcery? Always the artist, the scientist, and the alchemist have searched for the answer to immortality, the philosophers’ stone, and the magic portal. Their quest, itself, holds the answer for by it they have already danced the first steps of the Great Awakening.

The British Horror Film Festival is one of the most important and influential horror film festivals in the UK and has a rapidly growing international reputation.

Our goal is to regularly grow the number of screens that the festival is screened on, simultaneously around the UK. We have been growing these screens since 2011 when we screened the festival on 2 screens, Bournemouth and London's Leicester Square.

This gives your movie a chance to be seen by a wider audience and have a one day theatrical release in the UK, as well as a prestigious Leicester Square premiere/debut.

We also have the 'Horror Awards'. These beautiful Crystal Awards are presented at the end of the festival at an awards ceremony.
Previous winners of these prestigious awards have gone on to secure distribution deals in the UK and abroad. The 2013 awards were sponsored by Haunted: After Dark.

Each film screened is nominated in at least one awards category and often many others.

We are committed to increasing the profile of independent horror films and film-makers. A number of reviewers are present at all our screenings, to ensure you get plenty of global publicity, both on-line and in print for your film.

Prepare to scream ... about films!

To go with our popular website www.wildsound.ca

This is a festival geared to make sure your film/script gets shown in front of a large audience so you can actually see what people think of your work. We focus-group it with the audience, and our monthly guest industry moderator facilitates the audiences questions. This is a festival of networking and positive communication so you can take your filmmaking/screenwriting career to the next level.

There is no judgment occurring in the moderation and the agenda is to have a 8-12 minute video of people talking positively about your film. (see our website for more details). It's a great selling point video to get your film to other festivals and get a distribution deal. (also see our popular YouTube channel - www.youtube.com/wildcardpic)

Scripts get read at the monthly screenplay festival and then shown online for the whole world to see. Many writers obtain agents and get their idea/scripts optioned because of this.
