Taking in a Rural Route program is like choosing the road less travelled, and learning something new about our constantly amazing world. Whether it be a fictional backpacking drama set in the Peruvian Andes, a personal/experimental work about life in a Kazakh village, or a documentary about an organic, Appalachian turnip farm, our mission is to screen work about rare people and cultures normally overlooked by the mainstream media. Our content consists of top quality, cutting edge contemporary and archival work from sources both local and far, far away.

Since 2002, the Rural Route Film Festival has been centered in New York City, where both founders (originally from Iowa) met working in the film industry. Whether screening in New York, or on one of our many tour dates, our content is more relevant than ever, tackling some of the most important topics of the day within the slow food movement, global warming/environmental arena, and life sustainability symposium.

VISIONFEST: THE OTHER FESTIVAL (VF) encourages and promotes domestic filmmaking. With guidelines that exclude the submission of foreign entries and focusing exclusively on U.S. based product, VF remains one of the very few "domestic" film festivals on the East Coast. VF brings attention to the American independent filmmaker with the same enthusiasm and effort that most other film festivals spend on their own "international" entrants. The long-term VF goal is to bring the American filmmaker abroad and around the world by bringing VF product to other international forums and into the hands of global media and overseas audiences. The VF mission is supported and driven by the Domani Vision Film Society, which itself was created to bring American visionaries together in an effort to introduce their work abroad. Founded and curated by U.S. based filmmakers, VF is loyal and supportive to its participants and is always ready to bring forth their works for extended or additional exhibition opportunities by way of its ongoing, archival library. VF participants become part of a family... and a family that stays together flourishes together.

The artists we present include first-time filmmakers, long-time outsider artists and seasoned film professionals.

Rooftop screens films of all lengths, formats and genres, including documentaries, animation, experimental works, political film and video and long and short narrative fiction. But the thread that connects all our films is that rather than focus on grandiose topics or artistic abstractions, Rooftop Films shows movies that explore single moments in time and place; personal films that show us where and how you live, and do so with intelligence and daring and in any genre, at any length and in ways and in settings most people would never imagine.

    MISSION & OBJECTIVE:

We are an independent festival dedicated to bringing together established and first-time filmmakers in a forum to celebrate the short film. The element of competition is not paramount and while the prizes are significant, it’s the taking part and screening of entrants' films in a public arena that counts. Our commitment, therefore, is to screen as many of the short films entered into our competitions as possible by streaming them on our own intranet network to venues all over the village of Schull. There are wifi hotspots too, so the films can be viewed on smart devices and laptops, but only in the village of Schull.

We show the competition films in the village hall, pubs, restaurants, shops and on the sides of buildings. We ask the question "What is a cinema, anyway?" and look for answers in every corner of the village. These are exciting times for the viewing public...we are trying to reflect this in our festival.

    CATEGORIES:

    • From The Gut
    • Dramatic Competition
    • Polish Feature Film Competition

    MISSION & OBJECTIVE:

By "Off-Camera” we do not mean a camera that is turned off.
It stands for a camera which says “No!”
We throw out “off” up against the contemporary media market in Poland.
We do not want to adjust ourselves to its standards.
We want to forge alternative ones.
Denmark, a country of five million, gave the world the “Dogma” movement.
Romania, a country of twenty million, redefined the cinema of the last five years.
Doesn’t Poland, a country of 40 million, have people ready to speak in their own voice? We say “off” to a situation in which a talented artist, fresh from a successful debut, cannot afford to make another movie, one which would be something more than a mere product.
Being independent doesn’t have to end with your first project.
We do not want the words “TV” and “market” to mean “compromise” and “crassness”.

We want to switch the direction to “on” - we want independent
filmmakers to take advantage of the market, not the other way around.
That’s why we organize this festival.
Here, in Krakow, in the city associated with arts, opposition and intellectual underground. It should be a place of many encounters. It should be a place for exchanging ideas and discussion.

Time to switch the “Off-Camera” on.

    MISSION & OBJECTIVE:

    Original. International. Indie. Anti-Niche!

ReelHeART International Film Festival is worldwide independent film festival held every June in Toronto, Canada.

In 2004 our founder had a vision that a new film festival could be formed to fill the void created by the growing trend of 'niche' festivals.

After placing a Director as second in command, the shape and focus of ReelHeART became a reality and to this day constantly evolves to refine its mandate to put the spotlight on only the best in independent filmmaking from around the world.

Our niche is NO niche. We believe in all Cultures under one Roof. It's the same with our Films, Documentaries and Screenplays. We believe in cultural exchange of ideas and creative expression without borders and labels.

ReelHeART accepts films and documentaries of all genres, countries and film lengths. There are 14 Categories of Competition. Two of those categories are our Short Screenplay and Feature Screenplay Competition. Top Film Prize is the "Founder's Award" ('Best of the Fest').

ReelHeART is dedicated to supporting the need for exposure for ALL LEVELS of independent filmmakers around the world. We put emerging and student artists alongside established and master filmmakers in an effort that all filmmakers can be recognized for their art, rather than their credits.

We also have a goal to satisfy and challenge the interests of filmgoers and film supporters, to encourage, reward and celebrate the "Real HeART" of Independent Film and New Media.

Whether filmmaker, screenwriter, reviewer, media or industry professional, the welcome and networking opportunities you experience at ReelHeART will be talked about from one year to the next!
