    INTRODUCTION

The Ojai Film Festival offers residents and visitors an opportunity to celebrate the art of film in the uniquely inviting environment of the Ojai Valley.

Ojai is an ideal site for a film festival, both because of its exceptional natural beauty and it proximity to the filmmaking capital of the world. It is appropriate that a community noted for its strong commitment to supporting the arts, as reflected in the various arts-related events that take place here every year, should host an event dedicated to the celebration of the only truly new art form of the Twentieth Century.

The Film Festival brings to its audience a great diversity of unique motion pictures from around the world, including many groundbreaking works that would otherwise be inaccessible. At the same time, it provides a valuable service to filmmakers by giving them access to a highly appreciative audience of intelligent and informed film lovers.

We are particularly proud of the increasing number of films shown at our festival which are later honored by the Motion Picture Academy.

Over the years, we have shown many recipients of Academy Award nominations for "Best Documentary Short" and "Best Animated Short" and awarded prizes to most of them.

    THEME

The Ojai Film Festival has chosen the phrase "Enriching The Human Spirit Through Film" as its guiding principle, and each year, the Festival focuses on specific topics within that theme.

From its inception, MIFF successfully presented some of the best independent productions from around the world. Referring to Sundance, as a role model, MIFF was the representative International film festival in the city of Milan for about a decade. Now, with the additional component of a Film Society (Leonardo Da Vinci Film Society), the film festival was transformed with a revolutionary format, MIFF Awards; a new concept for International film events - a hybrid of the conventional film festival and the traditional award ceremony format on TV, dedicated to help the distribution of new independent films.

Founded in 2000, MIFF, now MIFF Awards, has been conceived with a steadfast mission to encourage and support the distribution of independent films that reflect the best story-telling attributes on screen from all over the world. MIFF Awards also make available to Winner films to participate to "MIFF Best" showcase at the Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles during AFM (American Film Market), thereby facilitating further exposure for the awarded films.

Apart from MIFF Awards’ commitment to illuminate excellent independent productions, LDV Film Society is dedicated to promoting the glamour and history of its host city of Milan, well-known as the Capital of Fashion, LDV Film Society gives the option to Fashion Designers to have a runway show during the Leonardo's Horse Awards ceremony in Milan.

The British Horror Film Festival is one of the most important and influential horror film festivals in the UK and has a rapidly growing international reputation.

Our goal is to regularly grow the number of screens that the festival is screened on, simultaneously around the UK. We have been growing these screens since 2011 when we screened the festival on 2 screens, Bournemouth and London's Leicester Square.

This gives your movie a chance to be seen by a wider audience and have a one day theatrical release in the UK, as well as a prestigious Leicester Square premiere/debut.

We also have the 'Horror Awards'. These beautiful Crystal Awards are presented at the end of the festival at an awards ceremony.
Previous winners of these prestigious awards have gone on to secure distribution deals in the UK and abroad. The 2013 awards were sponsored by Haunted: After Dark.

Each film screened is nominated in at least one awards category and often many others.

We are committed to increasing the profile of independent horror films and film-makers. A number of reviewers are present at all our screenings, to ensure you get plenty of global publicity, both on-line and in print for your film.

A legendary 3-week blow-out of worldwide fantastic cinema taking place each July in the heart of Montreal, now deep in planning its 19th edition.

We’re currently on the lookout for features and shorts to showcase at this summer’s event. What exactly are we looking for? While predominantly a fantasy/action/horror festival, Fantasia has always embraced films whose sheer individuality puts them in a genre of their own. If you’re not sure whether your film is right for us, consider that we’ve showcased everything from captivating dramas, eccentric comedies, provocative documentaries, mind-blowing experimental works, musicals, even atypical children’s films. In other words, set our minds’ eyes on fire and we’ll do everything possible to get your film seen. Feel free to browse our 2013 website for a better understanding of our programming tastes.

Taking things a step further, in 2012, Fantasia launched the Frontières International Co-Production Market as well as a film market component. Our 2013 Frontières lineup featured dazzling new projects from Joe Dante, Buddy Giovinazzo, Bobcat Goldthwait, Richard Stanley and Andrzej Zulawski, to name a few. Our 2014 lineup included projects by Simon Rumley, Jacob Tierney and Dario Argento.

Any work produced in the past 18 months is eligible for both our official jury competition and our Public’s Prize.

There is no entry fee for Quebec productions (note that Qc prods must be submitted through our website and not here).

    MISSION & OBJECTIVE:

The Hell's Half Mile Film & Music Festival (HHM) is the perfect mix of independent film and live indie music. You may not have heard of us yet, but we’ll try to leave you with a lasting impression as we have with past guests.

"I don't remember much of my two years going to Hell's Half Mile. That's how much fun I had." – Rider Strong, “Cabin Fever” and two time HHM guest.

Our taste is eclectic, everything from quirky comedy to hard hitting documentary to emotional drama. Our goal is to find "the little film that could" -- a bunch of them -- and bring the filmmakers together to take over Bay City, MI. Our primary concern is community, and the filmmakers who attend our long weekend walk away with lifelong friends and future collaborators.

In the last nine years over 100 directors, producers, screenwriters and actors have joined our growing audience. We provide travel and accommodations to a limited number of filmmakers, plus all-access passes and catered receptions. All venues are within a few block radius and hotels are within walking distance, making it super easy to get around. Visit hhmfest.com for links to the venues and video recaps of the 2012 through 2014 festivals. We schedule events to help you connect with each other and the local community. Our hope is to provide you with a casual, fun experience, including unique outings that give you a taste of the local flavor. It’s the least we can do in return for providing our festival-goers with great independent cinema.

"I’ve been to SXSW several times, San Francisco, a bunch of smaller festivals all over the U.S.it [Hell’s Half Mile] feels like the real deal. It’s people who genuinely love film, love the independent film community. The quality and lineup is incredible” – Ashley Spillers "Arlo and Julie"

Our hope is to provide you with a casual, fun experience, including a unique outing that gives you a taste of the local flavor. It’s the least we can do in return for providing our festival-goers with great independent cinema. Once you become an HHM alum you’ll receive fee waivers for future projects and all-access passes for subsequent HHM Fests, whether you have a film in our program or not. Additionally, upon selection, your first-year submission fees are refunded, making it easy (and affordable) to submit to another festival.

“Hell's Half Mile gives me warm feelings in my heart. The warm feeling in my pants is possibly unrelated. It’s worth every minute and it's the kind of festival that you make movies for.” – Kenny Stevenson, writer and actor, "Love, Sex and Missed Connections".

Filmmakers are encouraged to participate in panel discussions, receptions and other events. Because we are beginning to foster student and local filmmaking, we provide opportunities for guest filmmakers to present a workshop or lecture focused on a specific topic or specialty. Other guests are invited to screen our student and local short films and give constructive feedback to the filmmakers. This type of mentoring helps to strengthen local filmmaking and continue our relationships with area universities.

    MISSION & OBJECTIVE:

FILM-COM Financing & Distribution Market is the only market in the world with a primary emphasis on works in the packaging phase that need completion financing, co-production partners or distribution interest to launch projects.

FILM-COM is a pragmatically focused packaging, financing and distribution market that connects works-in-progress or newly shot feature, television, documentary or video-gaming concepts with equity & lender financiers, domestic and foreign distribution companies, P&A funding, product integration specialists, potential co-production partners, agents, qualified producers reps and packaging partners who are connected to all of the above.

    FILM-COM has
    > The New Project Pitch Expo [NPPE] - overhauled for maximum involvement by all industry executives
    > Speed Meet n' Greet with all execs, prior to NPPE
    > Packaging, Financing & Distribution Summit -- hard core, useful panels on launching scripted television concepts, unscripted television concepts, independently capitalized feature films, documentaries, video-gaming and transmedia projects, as well has how to pitch and not to pitch
    > An online new product catalog that remains available to execs until the project gets made
    > Networking gatherings with execs - morning, noon and night
    > Annual Film/Television Gala
    > Opportunities for filmmakers to buy drinks for any industry execs they wish to approach [the execs are participating to look for new projects]
    > And more ways to provide useful assistance to content creators.

The primary assessment is on a project's marketability.

FILM-COM is NOT a 'festival' geared for the consumer public; It is a transactional and educational business market designed to establish relationships for creators of new content seeking packaging, financing and distribution relationships.

FILM-COM has FILMOLUTION partnerships with the SCORE-COM Faith in Film Conference, Script-Com Screenwriting Workshop, Composers for Film & Television Symposium, Songwriters for Film & Television Forum, and emerging Latino CineTV Conference.

FILM-COM is designed so that content creators can spend days meeting industry executives who can make a difference, rather than an event where one is made to feel lucky to get 5 minutes of someone's time. The execs at FILM-COM are deliberately participating to interact with you.

    MISSION & OBJECTIVE:

The Louisville Film Arts Institute (LFAII) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to celebrating and promoting the film arts in Kentucky. To help facilitate this goal, it has created Louisville’s International Festival of Film (LIFF) which is a sustainable annual film festival located in Louisville, KY. The festival will showcase independent film, while supporting the cultural diversity of the area.

The festival is uniquely designed to support film education in Kentucky. In its first year, there were over sixty high school and college students who participated in and helped run the film festival. They gained valuable experience through seminar attendance, Red Carpet interviewing, and networking. We expanded their involvement in our second year by obtaining Final Draft and AVID editing systems for select schools.

In 2011, we added the Kentucky Youth Film Festival, to allow students the experience of pitching, producing and promoting their work. Due to an overwhelming response from students, we are excited to invite the students and their families back. The Kentucky Youth Film Festival is a regular feature to Louisville's International Festival of Film. Each year the school system is handed a new subject for the students to create, develop and produce a film short or animation, depending on the individual student and his or her interest.

Our third year also saw our vision for the Kentucky Legends of Fame come to fruition, with the induction of our very first recipient, Ms. Lily Tomlin. As a kick-off and fundraising event, Ms. Tomlin also performed her incredible solo show—giving our festival unprecedented visibility.

Our Co-Founder, CONRAD BACHMANN (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0045497/), a Louisville native and graduate of Valley High School, attended the University of Kentucky before venturing out west in 1957 to pursue his Hollywood dream. Over his distinguished career, Conrad earned credits in more than 35 films, hundreds of television shows, countless commercials and served as Governor of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for 12 years, and on the Academy Executive Committee. As Chair of the Activities for the Academy he produced countless productions of hit television shows for a professional development series for all Peer Groups. Fifty Years later, Conrad came full circle with the announcement of his plan to develop and annual international film festival in his hometown of Louisville.

With the creation of LIFF, Conrad is helping to make a difference in the lives of future filmmakers around the world. Although Conrad moved to Hollywood over 50 years ago, his heart never left Louisville. His goal is to bring Hollywood and the artistic process of film making to the region and state. LIFF is his way of giving back the opportunities given to him, while offering a unique forum for others to achieve their dreams. Conrad is passionately dedicated to the success of the festival and wants to share his beautiful Commonwealth of Kentucky with the world.

LIFF shall bring together talented students, professional filmmakers, industry experts, educators, avid movie-goers, and film connoisseurs from around the globe for a highly interactive weekend of nationally recognized and undiscovered gems, educational seminars, and networking events.

In one inspiring weekend we create an intimate web of support for female filmmakers and our faithful audience of all genders. With unique film experiences, lively discussions, workshops, and boisterous parties, CJFF honors female filmmakers from diverse backgrounds and in all stages of their careers. We bring guest artists and audiences from all over to share ideas and build a collaborative community to last far beyond the festival itself. If you are accepted into the festival, we truly hope you will join us for the weekend (and we help support you so you can make it worth your while). If you are a feature filmmaker and we accept your film, part of screening your film at our festival is having a representative of your film in attendance at our festival since our main goal is to build a community of female filmmakers and an engagement with our audiences. We are open to filmmakers or representatives beyond the director. In fact, one of our goals is to shine a light on all aspects of production in filmmaking!

PLEASE NOTE: The Citizen Jane Film Festival screens films directed or co-directed by women. Please do not apply to our festival if the film is not directed or co-directed by a woman. Nearly every other festival is for you :)

    MISSION & OBJECTIVE:

    MOONDANCE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

Our objective for this competition and film festival is to inspire, promote and encourage screenwriters and independent filmmakers, and the very best work in film & film scripts, stage plays, TV scripts, musical film scores, librettos, radio plays & short stories. Moondance provides a professional forum in which those creative, talented & dedicated artists can have the opportunity for their work to be viewed and accepted by the powers that be, within the international film & entertainment community.

Our work on reaching out toward filmmakers, writers and film score composers everywhere in the world is primary and ongoing. Writers and filmmakers from all six continents, and from a wide diversity of ethnic and linguistic groups are an integral part of our mission and goals. We seek to inspire and invigorate this creative potential to perceive, conceptualize, and produce their works for the benefit of the world society. We are dedicated to preserving their accumulated accomplishments and visions as expressed through the art of film, music and writings.

Moondance promises to raise awareness of the invaluable contributions of creative talents to the entertainment community. Equity in the film industry does not mean stifling some voices so that others may be heard; it does not demand the compromising of personal standards to achieve success. Equity creates new standards which accommodate and nurture differences. Equity fosters the individual voice, investing talented people with confidence in their own authority. Equity unleashes the creative potential. We see the equal treatment of all, and the equal respect for all responses they explore, as essential to their and our ultimate goals.

Independent filmmakers, writers and composers are vocal and active participants in the social forces that shape our culture. They portray people as three-dimensional, complex human beings and thus defy the demeaning and pervasive stereotypes perpetuated by the mainstream media.

We are also dedicated to promoting visibility for women in Hollywood and their impact on the film industry, and we see this as a means to disrupt and correct the misogynous, fantastical, passive, destructive and denigrating visual representation of females that has, historically, been rendered by men in media and has for so long and so plentifully pervaded our visual culture.

Moondance promotes, encourages, educates and rewards non-violent conflict resolution in the arts & film. Our much-coveted Columbine Awards are given to the filmmakers, writers and composers (of any age) who best depict alternatives to violence as a method of dealing with conflicts, whether personal, local, national or international, and/or show why violence as a solution to conflict is ultimately counter-productive and inhumane.

Moondance is dedicated to promoting environmental awareness and preservation, and we award the Calypso Award to those filmmakers, writers and composers who create meaningful, educational and entertaining works toward this goal, and inspire others to do likewise.

Our mission is to entertain, to inform, to inspire, to encourage and to educate. We believe that films and scripts can contribute to a healthier society and that films and scripts should encourage the active involvement of audiences to connect and act collectively to address social challenges.

Winning and finalist films and scripts are innovative, distinctive, compelling and engaging, relevant to varied audiences and encourage participation. We are eager to continue to be one of the most important film festivals in the world by being innovative, risk-taking, and open to new thinking, new concepts, new talent, and new ways of telling stories.

Our film programs are always well rounded, entertaining, and enlightening, highlighting diverse cultures, opinions, and stories. We welcome individual expression and are committed to presenting diverse points of view. Moondance aims to entertain, increase awareness, provide multiple viewpoints, address complex social issues, provide forums for deliberation, and strengthen ties between a large variety of international audiences.

The long-term vision of the Moondance International Film Festival is to preserve and revitalize our intangible heritage, cultivate creative diversity, develop an intercultural dialogue, and stimulate this creative resource. Our mission is to present a vibrant and growing collection of films and writings, which is an ideal means for communication across perceived boundaries of race, culture, age and gender. These works document the complexity and depth of men's & women's experiences that will become widely accessible within the world film industry and to the public, and will encourage and inspire others to write, compose music and to make films.

We do this to enrich the life of the community, filmmakers and of course individuals who pursue careers in front of and behind the camera. By working directly with filmmakers independent of budget, origin, style or genre we celebrate the art of film and filmmakers in addition to:
-Setting high standards for quality film education and exhibition, placing artistic and cultural merit above commercial appeal.
-Working collaboratively with filmmakers and producers to increase access to quality film arts, presentations, programs, and projects.
-Enjoy the art of Action on Film in all of its glory from the delicate movement of the wings of a butterfly to a blazing shoot out on the streets of an inner city.
-The festival takes place in Theaters and in other professional settings such as the beautiful Pasadena Playhouse, there is nothing wrong with festivals that showcase films in other types of venues but we believe that we must give our filmmakers and writers the best venues to showcase their work as possible.
    - Over the years people have come to understand that Action On Film does not just mean action films it means the action the filmmaker takes to bring his or her dream to the screen and the reaction of the audiences to that work.
-Oh yeah, we love filmmakers and writers too

The Action On Film International Film Festival has been honored with being named to many Top Festival Lists both Domestic and Internatioinal. Perhaps it is the free video interviews, or Black Tie Dinner and Award Shows or just the great way filmmakers and writers are treated. Whatever the reason, the AOF Team is proud to be acknowledged by MovieMaker Magazine and for being placed in such high regard as some of the world's other top film festivals.

    MISSION & OBJECTIVE:

One of the worlds leading genre film festivals focusing solely on Horror, Science Fiction, and Thillers. Each year the NYCHFF celebrates both the horror classics we grew up with and the new horror films & filmmakers who create them.
Each year the NYCHFF fills the city with special screenings, parties, celebrity guests and free giveaways. The New York City Horror Film Festival is an event not to be missed. We have found that the independent film community nationwide, be it festivals, film websites, or even some of the most popular indie magazines, tend to shy away from these genre films, which is really a shame. Our philosophy is that the horror film is as important as any genre. In fact, many great Hollywood directors started out making low budget horror films.
Some of the most influential filmmakers in this category include: Francis Ford Coppola (The Godfather), Oliver Stone (Platoon), Sam Raimi (Spiderman), Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings) and Wes Craven (Scream). We feel that the horror film may just be more important for the future of film making than any other genre out there!

Our hotel is close to our venue, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby, not to mention Niagara Falls. In general, we provide two free passes to the entire festival for each film we select for screening, but for out of town filmmakers willing to travel to attend, we will provide additional passes. Western New York Films are not restricted to the categories listed above; to help our growing film community, we will also accept WNY comedies and dramas for consideration.
