    • International Narrative Feature

    MISSION & OBJECTIVE:

Anthem, The Libertarian Film Festival, is dedicated to finding and presenting the year's best films about personal and civil liberty. We seek films and documentaries about self-reliance, innovation, commerce, individual rights, and the power of persuasion over force.

Libertarian heroes follow their own paths. They do not conform to the expectations of others. When something goes wrong, they fix it themselves. When something goes right, they give credit where it is due. We want to see protagonists acting in their own self interest, doing all that they can for themselves without government intrusion, regulation, or support. When people watch out for themselves, they create a better world for everyone.

Libertarian films are about choice, opportunity, and knocking down obstacles. They often point out the unintended consequences of government intervention, but they are just as likely to present a protagonist’s personal struggle for self-expression. They show us how to make the world a better place simply by making one's own life better.

Filmmakers often screen to standing-room-only audiences at Anthem, because Anthem is part of FreedomFest, “the world’s largest gathering of free minds.” With over 2,500 attendees and 150 speakers on topics including politics, economics, history, science, health, art, and literature, FreedomFest provides a ready audience of eager viewers for Anthem’s filmmakers. Our comfortable 250-seat theater was often overflowing at last year's festival. This year’s FreedomFest theme "Is Big Brother Here?" is already creating quite a buzz. Are you worried about government snooping and nannyism? Let your voice be heard through film!

See you at the movies--Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, July 9-12, 2014.

    MISSION & OBJECTIVE:

The Bluestocking Film Series presents high-quality, provocative short fiction films featuring strong female protagonists. We're very proud to bring this innovative screening series to the beautiful, culturally vibrant, film-loving city of Portland, Maine.

Our mission is to encourage and promote production by filmmakers of narratives that reflect the diverse experiences of women and the complexity of women's lives and relationships with each other. Therefore, preference will be given to films that feature strong, complex female protagonists in leading roles.

Our main criteria - and what makes the Bluestocking Film Series unique - is that all submissions must first "pass" The Bechdel Test to be considered.

Therefore, ALL films in ANY category must have at least 2 named female characters who talk to each other (for more than a few seconds) about something other than a man (or men or boys). To find out more about the test, please Google it.

Because the Bechdel Test is intended to apply to narrative films, we invite submissions of fiction films ONLY.

IMPORTANT: ALL submissions must pass the ‘Bechdel Test for Women in Movies’ which is as follows:

-Are there 2 or more women in it who have names?
-Do they talk to each other?
-Do they talk to each other about something other than men (boys)?

This gives your movie a chance to be seen by a wider audience and have a one day theatrical release in the UK, as well as a prestigious Leicester Square premiere/debut.

We also have the 'Horror Awards'. These beautiful Crystal Awards are presented at the end of the festival at an awards ceremony.
Previous winners of these prestigious awards have gone on to secure distribution deals in the UK and abroad. The 2013 awards were sponsored by Haunted: After Dark.

Each film screened is nominated in at least one awards category and often many others.

We are committed to increasing the profile of independent horror films and film-makers. A number of reviewers are present at all our screenings, to ensure you get plenty of global publicity, both on-line and in print for your film.

This is a festival geared to make sure your film/script gets shown in front of a large audience so you can actually see what people think of your work. We focus-group it with the audience, and our monthly guest industry moderator facilitates the audiences questions. This is a festival of networking and positive communication so you can take your filmmaking/screenwriting career to the next level.

There is no judgment occurring in the moderation and the agenda is to have a 8-12 minute video of people talking positively about your film. (see our website for more details). It's a great selling point video to get your film to other festivals and get a distribution deal. (also see our popular YouTube channel - www.youtube.com/wildcardpic)

Scripts get read at the monthly screenplay festival and then shown online for the whole world to see. Many writers obtain agents and get their idea/scripts optioned because of this.
