ALL UK SHORT FICTION FILMS MUST BE AT LEAST A SCOTTISH PREMIERE. NOTE: WE ACCEPT ONLINE AND DVD SCREENERS. As the longest continually running film festival in the world, EIFF is now preparing its 71st edition. Edinburgh International Film Festival invites submissions of short-form works that suffuse originality, ambition and aesthetic innovation. We are seeking the new generation of strong cinematic voices that explore individual and collective stories, narratives, threads and vital and exciting ideas through their work. Short films that make us think and feel differently; proffering layers of interpretation and insight, original perspectives and pioneering techniques of interrogation of themes and issues both familiar and uncommon. Work that exudes confidence and panache and tests the parameters of the format while reveling in the particular advantages of a compact format. Submissions that collapse the space between documentary and fiction, and work shot on real film particularly welcome. Work that has previously been publicly broadcast in the UK will not be accepted. Work that is or has previously been publicly available online in the UK will not be accepted. Promotional films are not eligible (e.g. tourism, charitable appeals, etc.). EIFF regards a Short Film as under 30 minutes. ALL SHORT FICTION FILMS MUST BE AT LEAST A SCOTTISH PREMIERE. Less
