Any narrative work of fiction with a running time of 41 minutes or more, including films that are shot in a "mockumentary" style. In order to qualify as a U.S. Narrative Feature Film, the submitted project must be either scripted or improvisational fiction. The Festival seeks any combination of inventive, incisive, bold, vital and otherwise provocative work of any style or genre in the Feature Film Category. Less

Any non-fiction film with a running time of 41 minutes or more is considered a feature documentary. All time lengths are welcome. There are three areas in which you can submit: • FULL-LENGTH SCREENPLAY COMPETITION Full-length screenplay competition. Scripts not to exceed 130 double-spaced pages. Feature scripts are accepted from any genre, from any lifestyle orientation and from within and/or outside the US. Please contact us directly if you have questions, or your screenplay is longer. • TELEPLAY/SHORT SCREENPLAY COMPETITION Teleplay/Short screenplay competition. Scripts not to exceed 40 double-spaced pages for half hour programs/70 pages for a one hour teleplay. Screenplays accepted from any genre, from any lifestyle orientation and from within and/or outside the US. • SPOTLIGHT ON RHODE ISLAND (Full-length and short screenplay) For screenwriters, Rhode Island’s diverse landscape can be a character all unto itself. And a state with so much character makes for great stories. Flickers' Rhode Island International Film Festival (RIIFF) is now accepting entries for its 2016 Spotlight on Rhode Island Screenplay Competition. RIIFF invites talented screenwriters from around the world to submit their original screenplays whose characters and locations anchor the story in Rhode Island. Entries can be A. feature film (max. 130 pages), B. movie of the week (max. 100 pages), or C. television pilot (max. 40 pages for a half hour program/70 pages for a one-hour teleplay), and must be in standard industry formats. Scripts may be in any genre, present day or historic period. Adaptations of novels/books are not acceptable unless submitted by the author. Writers must also supply a log line and short synopsis. Finalist scripts will be read and judged by industry professionals. PLEASE NOTE: (IMPORTANT: The actual Notification Date is Columbus Day Weekend in October 2017, not as cited in WAB as August 4th. RIIFF produces a side-bar festival known as the Providence LGBTQ Film Festival. This dedicated showcase is an integral part of RIIFF's official selection. In addition to being showcased as part of the main festival, RIIFF exhibits a selection of LGBTQ shorts and features as part of a special two-day sneak preview screening each June during Pride month. RIIFF partners with community organizations such as the Rhode Island Foundation's Equity Action Fund and uses the side-bar as a way to raise awareness and generate funds for LGBTQ friendly community programs and non-profit groups. RIIFF screens a Horror sidebar during the main Festival in August. Additionally, RIIFF produces an annual genre Film Festival each October as part of its special programming outreach. This Fest is known as the Vortex, Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Horror Film Festival. The largest festival of its kind in New England, this genre Festival features restored silent film screenings, an H.P. There are two RIIFF sidebars: the first for French-language films was originally known as the "Jubile Franco-Americain" dating back to 1997 and in 2013 rechristened as the "Québec Film Festival," and the other is known as "From the North Country." Both salute Canada and the close ties with the United States and the long history with Flickers that dates back to 1994.
